Digital Marketing Manager - Culture+Commerce
Surface Media is a storytelling company that looks at the world through the lens of design. It includes print magazines Surface and Watch Journal; digital platforms at surfacemag.com and watchjournal.com; a custom publishing division, Surface Studios; a designer focused representation agency, Culture+Commerce; and a highly regarded event program including the Design Dialogues series. Surface is launching several new initiatives in 2017 and is looking for creative and motivated individuals to join its growing team. Watch Journal is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017 and Surface magazine will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2018.
The Digital Marketing Manager reports to the Agency Director of Culture+Commerce and is responsible for leveraging content to generate significant visibility for Culture+Commerce and its designers. With a focus on developing digital marketing strategies, they will gain attention from desired brand partners, increase traffic to culturecommerce.com, and oversee the content and management of a semi-monthly newsletter.
Oversee all digital, email, and social media campaigns
Develop marketing concepts for brand partnerships in conjunction with the Agency Director and the partnerships team
Manage traffic acquisition and search strategy (SEM, SEO, affiliation, paid social)
Analyze, measure, and report on the success of marketing campaigns using KPIs to ensure efforts have yielded significant results
Manage all website content, including designer portfolios and press calendar, to enhance brand visibility and business development opportunities for C+C designers
Work closely with C+C Partnerships Manager on preparation of proposals, pitch decks, and any other marketing materials as needed
Create compelling case studies as needed to show value and results of working with C+C and its designers
Handle all other digital marketing tasks as assigned
Tracking, Measurement, List Management:
Oversee the tracking and creation of digital clips for all media placements related to C+C designer collaborations (print, digital, and broadcast)
Create regular reports with all placements and executive summary of results
Create and manage contact lists for digital campaigns including collaboration launches, events, and general agency announcements
Bachelor’s degree required
2-4+ years experience managing Digital (web marketing, website project management, user experience)
Familiarity with the cultural media landscape (art, fashion, design, and architecture)
Ability to effectively partner cross functionally with Surface Media’s teams to capitalize on opportunities, develop and implement initiatives that can drive brand awareness and growth
Exceptional planning and project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Expertise in creating compelling marketing concepts and presentations
Positive attitude, willingness to work hard with a fast-paced team, and ability to shift gears quickly
